Hi, can anyone tell me how to turn off the water supply and drain an outdoor oil boiler? I need to replace a small part which I have and can easily fit but just can't see how to turn off the water.
    Thanks

Probably a small header tank in your attic. Tie up the ballcock.

Thanks - do you have to drain the whole system then? Was hoping to avoid that but maybe not possible.

Given that its outside you could just let the water gush out for the few seconds til you insert the replacement part. No need to bother with the ballcock in that case, its not under great pressure, just the head from the tank

What part do you need to replace
And a pic or two of the boiler would help to put you in right direction

Sorry for the delay - It is just a safety valve that needs replacing. Seems straightforward if I can just switch the water supply off. Just need to find out how to upload a picture so will add it in a bit

There may be gate valves that isolate the boiler, check just inside the wall where the pipes from the boiler enter the house.

    Let's hope there isn't, for safety's sake
