So this Indian guy in his 60s wearing a turban walks up to me and says "You have a lucky face"

I goes ..Whaaa?..he then writes down a few things on a piece of paper, crumples it and puts it in my hand and asks me the following questions

    Him:Name a colour?
    Me:Blue
    Him:another colour?
    Me:Pink
    Him:a number between 1 and 12?
    Me:3
    Him:Another number?
    Me:11
Him:what month was i born in?
    Me:August

He said open the paper, and yes it said blue,pink,3,11,August

He then wanted to tell me my fortune and of course was looking for money, wrote down 3 amounts 20,30,50 and how much would i be willing to pay,he also handed me a little red seed thing and said it was lucky

At that stage i gave him a tenner and told him that was enough, the only reason i gave it to him cos i was impressed with his trick

Anyone else come across this guy? This happened in Mallow today

I say "No thanks" and keep walking!

That's how it would have played out for me

I was hustled by a gypsy in Paris once, I went to the police and was told to go back to Ireland.

I'd have punched him in the face and said...
    "Betcha didn't see that coming!"

Ah I wouldn't use those words unless he persisted after I'd made my position clear I wasn't interested!

It's anything but rocket science -

Cold reading is a set of techniques used by mentalists, psychics, fortune-tellers, mediums and illusionists to imply that the reader knows much more about the person than the reader actually does. Without prior knowledge, a practiced cold-reader can quickly obtain a great deal of information by analyzing the person's body language, age, clothing or fashion, hairstyle, gender, sexual orientation, religion, race or ethnicity, level of education, manner of speech, place of origin, etc. Cold readings commonly employ high-probability guesses, quickly picking up on signals as to whether their guesses are in the right direction or not, then emphasizing and reinforcing chance connections and quickly moving on from missed guesses.

    Cold reading, Wikipedia entry.
