Did this yesterday. Well done to Tullamore CTC for this event, great organisation and sensationally good food afterwards-grilled burger, stuffer potatoes, salad, sausages, cans of coke, coffee-brilliant. The course was both spectacular in terms of scenery and spectacularly difficult in terms of terrain. I'd say there must have been about 1,400 metres of climbing in the space of about 65km between the bottom of the Cut going south and the top of the same hill heading back towards Tullamore. I'd strongly recommend this event to anyone looking to put themselves through four and a half hours of suffering and get a great meal afterwards. Only bad part about the day was failing to notice that the 15:34 train to Dublin didn't stop in Kildare and that I should have gotten off at Portarlington to switch trains. Still, I managed to get a pint in Heuston station while I waited for a train home and saw the last ten minutes of the Mayo-Dublin match-not a bad way to end the day.
