have a standing pillar drill here with its own stand that I got for as cheap as chips (€100 two years ago) on sale to clear. in any case never got to bolting it to the ground. I knocked it by accident today and it fell on top of the lawn mower. didn't get much of a bang as I had it have caught but the weight still pulled me with it. anyway now its not working. checked fuse and its fine. any ideas what else I should check. when you press the power button nothing happens.

Disconnect from the mains and check the two ends of the cable as a connection may have pulled out when you grabbed it.
If you have a continuity tester, check all 3 cores of the flex. Sounds like theres no power getting to the switch.

There's usually a safety switch under the top cover. Make sure the top cover is closed correctly. More than likely this switch took a hit when it fell.
