Airbag light on in Kia

Quick question....I have a Kia (still under 7 year warranty), but the air bag light is staying on. I've booked an appt with my Kia dealer to fix, but I wanted to know if this is something any mechanic could possibly fix? The Kia dealer is a fair distance from me so would prefer not to have to travel!

It could be something as simple as a loose/worn wire in the cluster under one of the front seats that links the airbags to seat-belt pre-tensioner, it could be a failure in the magic box that controls the entire SRS. To be perfectly straight with you if I had a current warranty I'd let it be the dealer's problem.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd rather the dealer resolve it myself but just wanted to avoid a long drive there and back!
