Victorinox Damage

    Hi.

I was hoping to get a little help here.
I dropped my victorinox the other day it damaged the glass. I was wondering would anyone here know from the pictures I've posted how bad the damage is and the possible cost of replacing the glass. It's not under warranty anymore.
Also would anyone know of somewhere to get it done properly in dublin or would you recommend just sending it back to a victorinox authorized service centre? I'd like any repair/replacement glass to be with original parts so hopefully this is possible too.

I really like this watch so hopefully it's repairable.

    Thanks

New crystal required. Not a big job at all. However if it were my watch I'd send it to an authorised service centre so they can fit the correct type and whatever seals it may require and most of all test and warranty it for water resistance. Now an independent could do all of that, but you'd be safer with the makers IMHO.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Thanks for that. I think I'd be of a similar opinion sending it to an authorized service centre. Good to hear it's not a big job.

    Thanks again.

It's difficult to see for sure from the photos but there is a chance that particles of the crystal may have made it into the movement. In the light of this I'd be surprised if an authorised service centre will just replace the crystal; they are almost certainly going to insist on a complete service as well.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I've contacted the irish service centres listed on the victorinox website and it turns out none of them are actually service centres but rather just stockists. The nearest service centre is a company called Locker Hull and Thornton in the UK. Weir's reckon it's going to cost approx 120/150. I'm going to contact the guys in the UK and see what's what. Thanks again for the help here.

It's been a while but I thought I'd update this.

I ended up sending the watch to lockerhullthornton.com by way of weirs on grafton street.

They replaced the crystal, serviced and put a new strap on, all for 170 euro. That included postage costs too.

I sent it off before christmas and only got it back a couple of weeks ago so happy enough with the turnaround time.

    All looks good so far.
