Looking for recommendations for my first car.

I have my Learner Permit for the last six months and have some EDT lessons done but it's hard to progress further without having your own car.

I was looking at VW Polo's (1.0L) and Opel Corsa's (1.0L) online, both would be either 2001 or 2002 and probably between €1200 and €1800.

    Are any of them reliable?

We got my daughter a 01 Renault Clio 18 months ago. Lovely little car. Passed two nct no problem. Never failed to start. Great value for money car imo anyway

Those 1.0 Corsas are dire imo.

Yaris is probably the best 1.0 out there of that vintage imo.

Agree Yaris would be the best. Not sure what year you'd be looking at to keep within your budget.

My brother bought a 02 recently with 250k miles  on it. The fact that it is still in tight shape with no rust would only serve to support everything good that is said about them.

Funny thing was that he got it and the next day I met him being towed by the garage man. I thought to myself that'll be the engine knackered due to the mileage, but low and behold it was just out of petrol. Faulty fuel gauge.

Everyone seems to say to go for the Yaris, I will definitely have a look into it!

    Thanks

Just buy a Punto for under a grand and keep the rest for any repairs, tyres etc.

Stay a way from the Corsa anyway. Pure hapes altogether
