When was the last time you sang

    I'm old.

    Damn old

Ok I'm 33 ( I think, 09.03.1983, can someone work that out please?)

I remember being a kid and music was one of the most important things in my life.

When I was a youngster I used to sing every single day. Not because I was a happy young person. But because music was so important to me.

The soundtrack of our lives is not just a relatively obscure Swedish rock band, it's something much more deeply ingrained in our idea of who we are.

I used to sing every day, loudly, to myself and to others. Walking home from the pub at night I used to sing Bell x 1 songs out loud in the crisp December Dublin air.

When I had my first born child, I sang him to sleep every night. And my second born chid, my first daughter. There are few experiences that are more moving than soothing a crying child to sleep by singing acoustic interpretations of David Bowie and Radiohead.

Long story short. When was the last time you sang???

    Do you like singing?

I sing all day, every day.
I walk around with my earphones in shuffling a few thousand songs, hail, rain or shine, for better or worse!

I hope you're not singing Exit Music (For A Film) to your children as they go to sleep.

The last time I sang was probably yesterday or the day before. It's usually just quietly to myself as I don't have a good voice.

I love to sing....sing all day every day.....
Usually people ask me to sing "Far away" for some reason......
I'm not familiar with that particular song though!?.........

I doubt I've sincerely tried to sing without a layer of irony bolted on, even by myself, since I was about 6. Few things horrify me on such a direct level as the idea of being confronted with the sound of my voice singing.

I sing all the time, and used sing solo in a choir when I was a teen.

then I joined a proper choir with alto/tenor/bass/soprano.

Want to join a new choir, but I have to audition, and I'm paranoid now about singing on my own so am going to have a couple of lessons to get some confidence back :)

If I'm on my own I'm either singing or talking to myself. Usually adapting songs to specific situations. Trying to find my phone and it's 'Where Is My Phone' by Pixies. Hand-washing calls for 'Soooap and the Water (don't get it in your ey-ees)' by Deep Purple. Miss a bus, Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Wait! They don't love you like I love you!")

Saturday night last, I sang for 2 hours to a full house of drunk rugby players and their friends.. they danced all night. In fairness though, I wasn't the lead vocal.. I do the harmonies.

I'd love to be in a band doing backing vocals, how do you go about it?

Every day. Sing when cooking, in the shower, out for a walk etc. Thankfully I live in the middle of nowhere :)

practice singing the harmonies to a few tunes on youtube, then maybe join a choir so you can get used to singing with other people which will build your confidence and improve your voice.. then get yourself a middling microphone, lead and stand.. and if you know and bands that are doing the circuit, stand in for half an hour some night to see how it goes.

It is also a help if you play an instrument, and if you dont, grab a shaker or tambourine.

Love singing! By myself though usually..Once I put on my ipod to clean the tunes start and I get louder and louder as Im cleaning around the house! dont think OH likes it too much but Im cleaning so he cant give out!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,400 ✭✭✭Medusa22

I love to sing and I sing most days when I'm on my own or if my OH is there, I won't sing in front of anyone else. Usually when I'm cooking or cleaning or showering and I just like to belt songs out. Like electro-bitch, I also adapt songs to whatever I'm doing, and make the OH laugh, or just cringe, depending :p

Was half singing just there as I was reading the thread titles. Phil Collins, Take Me Home.

Hey, don't blame me, it was on someone's car radio as they drove past.

Take, take me home, cause I don't remember... ha, now it's in your head too!

... only when the stereo is up loud enough that I can't hear myself :p But actually usually in the car during my morning/evening commute.

My 3 year old little fella though has gotten pretty good at singing along to this...
