Hi I was just wondering if anyone would have advice for me, the thing is my daughter who is 14 but looks older wants me to take her to her new favourite band's gig and I said I would.

It seems it's an over 16s event but as I said she easily looks 16, the gig is in Belfast, does anyone have any experience in these matters? Is it unlikely that she would be asked for I.D ? I know she is dying to go but a trip to Belfast for nothing would be a bit rubbish, not to mention the cost of the tickets....

They won't ask for ID at an >16s event.

Once they see an adult (you) you'll be fine.

I've seen friends kids (17) being turned away from over 18's gigs on a zero tolerance basis.

That's different. Over 18's usually means alcohol will be sold.

I was bringing my brother and his friend to a gig once and they turned us away at the door, it was over 18s but you can never be sure really.

Get her to hold hand's with a mid 20's man going in and she will be fine. Works just as good with a young lad holding hands with an older woman.

Is it The Script gig at Tennent's Vital?

    If so:
Tennent’s Vital is an over 16s event. However, a parent aged 25 and over can take up to two under 16s to the show.

Parents will be required to show age identification and sign a consent form in order to gain admission on the day. Under 16s must be accompanied by their parent at all times.

Bars will operate a strict Challenge 25 policy.

Thanks for the replies so far, as the gig is in Belfast does anyone know if they are generally stricter or not than in the South? I note there is a bar at the venue which is called the Belsonic .

Ahh. Looks like they are strict alright.
    Q. What are the age restrictions for Belsonic?
    A. Belsonic is a 16+ Event. People under the age of 16 will not be admitted. For further questions on age restrictions please email..

Tbh, you're better off asking in the Gigs & Events forum.

Good news :), I emailed the venue explaining my situation and after not even expecting a reply I have just been told that it will be fine to take my daughter along as long as I accompany her, needless to say she is over the moon now after initially looking like she could not go. Now all I have to do is find the earplugs
