Heifer with abscess

    Hi all,I have a heifer with an abscess on her spine,she got an infection through naval as a calf and has a hump on her back.She a year old now.Just wondering what would u do with her,would she be ok for freezer?

    It's a tricky question. Ignoring her weight and costs and looking at it from a Meat Inspection point of view, it depends on whether the abscess is 'dead' or still present as an active or contained abscess. If the abscess is live/contained and is split open when the carcase is halved it would contaminate the carcase....that could lead to its condemnation.

    Might be better asking a vet to look at her.

    I think looking for veterinary advice here is banned, for good reason.
