Listed Property Name Changes

    Hi all,

My partner and I recently bought a listed terraced house.
It's on a main street and has no number, only a name.

We know the previous owners had named the house somewhere in the 1930's and is as such listed on all documentaction that passed us throughout the purchase.

Generally property names are a bit of a vanity I suppose though as this is a listed property we're unsure if there are any procedures to follow if we were to change the name and what would they be? (Heritage, County council, solicitors etc.)

    Can anyone advise on this?

    Many thanks in advance!
Also, apologies if this isn't the correct forum for this.

    Regards,

By "listed" do you mean a protected structure under the Planning Acts?

Even if it is a protected structure I cannot see any problem in changing the name of the house.

To avoid confusion you should notify the LA and Post Office.

If it is a protected structure you, technically, need the consent of the Planning Authority to change any signboards etc
