Bought it day of release at (actually pre-bought it!) £69.99STG with the full intention of starting my re-watch the day it arrived. Still in its celophane.

It's a great show to get immersed in. If you don't like I'm sure you could sell it on to recoup some of the cost.

Best series of all time, every time I watch it I get something more out of it. "All the pieces Matter"

Couldn't get through the first episode myself
Different strokes for different folks I guess

Definitely, but you should really try and watch more than half an episode before giving up. It took me 4 or 5 episodes to really get into it and then I was completely hooked!

Anyone with SkyPlus can just record the whole boxset... season 1 started just yesterday on Sky Atlantic. Think 2 episodes done.

To me spending over 70quid on a boxset that will def be repeated on tv is madness. Especially if youve already seen it !

You didn't even finish a single stroke, how do you know what strokes are involved in the first place?

Lads, I read the first three pages of The Count of Monte Cristo and gave up, can anyone recommend something a bit more exciting?

It depends what kind of TV show you like. The Wire is a very rich and dense show and can take a few episodes to get into but it is a masterpiece imo. No TV show has surpassed it. It really was one of a kind - a vast sprawling five series epic focusing on how power operates within institutions and the effects they have on people's lives. That sounds a bit po-faced or pretentious maybe but I don't say it lightly.

Just got it in the post today, just watched episode one. Looks good so far in HD, this is my 4th time watching the whole series and havent noticed any real issues with the conversion from 4:3 to 16:9.
