Can only work 2 days a week? X's & O's

    Hi there

I was on jobseekers benefit for a period, I then got a full time contract which lasted about 5 months. My working days were reducded down to 3 after this 5 months. I then applied for the jobseekers benefit to do the X's and O's to claim for the 2 days of the weeks I wasn't working.

I was approved for this and received a cheque in the post on the first ocassion. I then didn't receive cheques for two weeks so I got in touch with them. They have told me I can only do a maximum of 2 days a week or else I would get nothing. I had never heard of this nor can I see reference to it on social welfare website. I was under the impression I just needed to satisy the condition of been unemployed for 4 days out of 7.

The most annoying thing is they never told me this (he said it's something they can't check in advance?!). I have been told to apply for jobseekers allowance if I will continue to do 3 days. That would mean I would be in a worse off financial postion as my partner works part time too.
Has anyone ever heard of this 2 day rule?

    Thanks

Apply for JSA and see what the dept says, you may have run out of stamps. In the mean while write to your local office and ask for confirmation of what you were told.

Thanks for that, yes I will call in and see them next week. I definately still have stamps as they only started recently and I was approved for 9 months. I think it must be an error on their part.
