"Thump" when engaging 2nd gear. Focus 2001 1.4

    Hi there,


    There is a dull "thump" or thud I guess when I engage 2nd gear. The noise occurs around the bite point when I release the clutch in 2nd gear and press the accelerator. It only seems to happen when releasing clutch in 2nd gear. All other gears are smooth.

    Any idea what this could be?

    I thought it was my driving style but have tried a lot of different methods of releasing the clutch and the thump is still there.

    I did get a recent clutch change, but the thump was there before that too.

    Any ideas?
