Mondeo gauges stop intermittently

Have had this problem with my mk3 mondeo ever since I got it and hoping someone could shed some light on it.

When driving along the speedo, rpm, outside temperature screen, mileage screen and temperature gauge randomly drop and a few lights appear such as the eml and a couple of others. The petrol gauge stays normal though.

I know there was a few issues with the Focus but the only things I can find on the net regarding the mondeo is when it stops working altogether.

Usually when it happens it goes back to normal after a few seconds but lately its taking longer, even when I pull over and restart the engine it doesn't work and then out of the blue starts working again.

More than likely the cluster is faulty but you would need to check the feeds and grounds to be one hundred percent.

If it was me id go with a cluster though.

I was thinking that as well but a lot of people who did change them for a different one still had the same problem.
