Claiming Tax Credit - once off

I need help figuring out how to claim my Tax credits.

I'm 17, worked for a few weeks in June in a local shop. The shop was part of a chain, and my pay was taxed on emergency basis. I no longer work there, and want to claim a tax refund. How do I go about this, seeing as I won't be getting any further payslips, as I'm returning to school I won't be able to work.

I can go to the tax office, but I just want to make sure it's possible first. Also, what information would I have to bring with me?

Yeah just go into the tax office or set up PAYE anytime. If you paid to much tax, then you'll get it back.

If you've never worked a PAYE job before then you need to complete a Form 12A to get yourself set up on the system.

Then complete Form P50 to claim back any tax you've overpaid. You can find both forms on the Revenue website, print off, complete and send in to your local tax office with a copy of the P45 from your summer job.

Thanks for the advice. I signed up to the PAYE Anytime online, but I think there might still be an issue.

My employer never gave me a P45, nor any other form from revenue. and I was taxed on an emergency basis in the beginning because he lost my PPSN. I then gave it to him a second time.

Seeing as the only information revenue have about me and the tax I've paid is my PPSN and my personal details, is it possible for me to claim the tax refund without the P45, or the other forms? The online service seems to say I can do everything online, but I really am clueless as to this?

Your employer has to give you a P45 when you finish up work with him, it's the record of pay you were paid and tax/USC that was deducted from you whilst you worked there. How could you get tax back if Revenue don't know how much tax you actually paid?

Contact your employer again and ask for your P45. If no joy, contact Revenue and they'll do pretty much the same thing (ask employer to file P45 - they don't issue P45s themselves).
