    The Department recognises the valuable contribution that the visa system can make in
    promoting growth in tourism and business travel to Ireland and as a means of supporting
    passenger facilitation
    ACTIONS
    4.7.1 The Department will support the further development of the British Irish Visa
    Scheme and other enhancements of the visa system to promote growth in tourism
    and business visits to Ireland.
    4.7.2 The Department, in conjunction with the Department of Justice and Equality, will
    encourage airports to streamline passenger flows taking full advantage of the
    Common Travel Area.

    If I'm honest it was a load of hype by DoT and this is what they publish. Believe some of the regional airport suggestions are a little un realistic to achieve however party politics may play a role in achieving those ;)

    Quiet literally stating the obvious on one document.

    It seems a little light on substance to be honest. A lot of general talk but no concrete plans as such.

    I also for some reason read the thing with pascal Donoghues voice in my head.

The development plans of the main Irish ports of Dublin, Cork and Shannon-Foynes will increase the attractiveness of transporting goods by truck and sea to a major hub airport.
    OK, so the objective analysis would seem to be there's little scope for increasing cargo traffic, and such business as there is will overwhelmingly use Dublin as that's where the cargo capacity of passenger aircraft is chiefly available. But then the document takes a sudden turn
    It is considered that Shannon Airport has the capacity to become an air-cargo hub between Europe (and beyond) and the US.
    Considered by who, and on what basis? On the basis that, overwhelmingly, currently air cargo avoids the place?

    It doesn't sound much different to the Draft Policy of May 2014.

    A lot of the 'Actions' aren't really things that could be policy, such as continuing to support things or doing things they're already required to do. Most of the Actions in the Safety section, for example.

    I doubt Ryanair's attack on CAR from their submission to the Draft got much of a mention!
