I'm not sure if the ferry will take bikes - there was some kind of row about this a while back. Best to ring and check first. There is a well established bike rental trade on the island so you can hire out there.

For roads, think along the lines of minor roads in the Burren. There are also some tracks that would be a bit like green roads in the Burren. So hiring an MTB might be a better option for a bit of exploring.

I was there a few weeks ago. It would be hard to get the bike over. Possibly arranged in advance and ferry was packed. Also the minute you land on the island there is a bike rental shed. They do the job as you might want to leave the bike down to go walking on other trails etc.

The roads are grand, same as anywhere else in rural Ireland. Tracks are, well, like the tracks elsewhere in Ireland.

If you speak Irish in a Connemara accent you'll prob have no trouble getting the bike on the ferry

How do you find the C24s?

Very nice. Not earth shatteringly different to the previous Campags on flats or steep ramps, but very noticeably more "rolly" on drags.

PS I didn't make it to the islands. Next year.
