My car insurance quote has gone up over 100 euro since last year. No points/claims/prosecutions etc. Online I can get 40 cheaper from a different company. But should it not be coming down with no claims and more years?

But i wondered is the age of the car a feature? It is a 2001. If I change car would I get cheaper insurance.? My insurers said i got the best quote possible as i have the top rate of ncb

Yeah probably, my OH bought an 04 car same engine as his 00 last week.

His insurance went down by almost 9% over the phone.

Age is definitely a factor these days.

As you can see from this thread, insurance is on the increase, pretty much across the board.

If you play around with the online quote websites, you can see if getting a newer car would make a difference - but it sounds like a very expensive way to save very little money!

Always tell them the car is worth 3k or more, even if it's worth little or nothing. It makes a difference.

"insurance is on the increase, pretty much across the board." realise that now

Price doesn't make a difference with most companies once it's below around the 20k mark. The majority of your premium covers the risk of the damage caused by your car not to your car.

Mine just seems to go up year on year, driving 14 years with no crashes or claims or penalty points. Joke

Check for yourself. It takes a few minutes to get quotes with your details + a newer car.

People simply don't do enough research and investigating and that is why they pay more for their insurance. Simple as that.

You will only get what the car is worth anyway. But if you are driving car that's not worth much, try it. It works.

OP take the cheaper quote there's nothing out of been loyal to insurance companies. Or maybe go back to your own company and ask them if they'll match the cheaper quote.
Does your car have a high powered engine or is it an import, even some makes attract higher quotes because they are popular with so called boy racers

I phoned FBD recently- they're VERY WELL SCRIPTED- I'll say that again- they're VERY WELL SCRIPTED.

there's not an objection that they don't have written down, for the agent to call out a response to- i spent many a minute listening to a lot of babble talk about fire engines costs in an accident, to 3rd party insurance to whatever else- still got a discount, but you need to have done your price comparisons before going on the call-
As De Niro would say- "they're good" ;)
