    Hi,
This may seem an odd question. I've quit smoking and I need suggestions for something to chew on, especially after a meal and in the evenings. I've started to suck hard toffee sweets but I don't want to put on any extra weight.

Quitting smoking is very difficult. Even so you must keep in mind the obvious pitfall of replacing one bad habit with another - namely food ! I say that knowing full well I put on weight when I quit. If you feel like you can't resist nibbling then go ahead but keep in mind it's only a temporary measure and your only employing this technique to prevent you from cracking in the first few critical weeks of giving up. I could only recommend chopped raw veg in your case as most everything else is too high in calories, including nuts.

Vape instead and use the levels of nicotine in juice to get rid of the addiction?

Or do you need to do something with your hands?

It's both a psychological and a physical addition so you need to deal with both.

Drink loads and loads of water - that's what got me through stopping smoking. It's something to do with your hands, that's free, and good for you. Increased snacking has its own problems so best not get started on that.

I sipped on glasses of tap water all day in work - this filled a "getting up from my desk" void that smoking left - increased bathroom use from drinking loads of water does this too!
When I was out and about, I always had a bottle with me in my bag, if I felt a bit twitchy I'd have a swig, calmed me right down.
At home, I have a few 1lt glass bottles filled with tap water in the fridge that I drink from, at meals and just when I'm sitting around reading or whatever.

That was 3 and a half years ago, haven't touched a smoke since - and I kept up the good habit and still drink loads of water!
