    Hi,
Can registered users apply and get a grant even if they haven't paid either or both bills received so far?

If they've not paid their consciences should prevent them applying for the grant.

If IW's conscience is working it shouldn't pay them.

I'm starting a new job paid monthly, and as an American (=non-EU) immigrant who's been living on her savings for a year and a half, I don't qualify for benefits. The job is timely because my savings are pretty well gone now. I called Irish Water to tell them I would have to be late paying my bill, and when to expect payment, and they thanked me for letting them know, and advised me to watch for the conservation grant. If they don't have a problem with it, why do you?

Well.... Your welcome to my payment

If strangers on the street started handing out "free" money would you take it?... You'd probably ask what's the catch?

    Thanks. But no thanks

I'm sure that the original poster was addressing the query to Irish Water reps and not to any wannabee.  Maybe your new job is as a rep for Irish Water.  I am sure that an Irish immigrant in The US would not receive many handouts .

Yeah, maybe I should ask them if they're hiring. No, nobody in the US receives many handouts, no matter what their immigration status.

    Hi filbert the fox,

    Thank you for your query.
Can registered users apply and get a grant even if they haven't paid either or both bills received so far?

All customers and non-customers, who have registered their details with Irish Water prior to the 30th of June 2015, will be eligible to apply for the Water Conservation Grant in 2015. This grant is separate from Irish Water and is being paid and administered by the Department of Social Protection, who will contact all registered customers and non-customers from late August, regarding the distribution of the grant. For more information on the Water Conservation Grant please click here.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any other queries, please feel free to contact us.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

    Thanks Niall,

Just wondering have we all gone mad and you've just proved it. In other words it's conceivable that those who vehemently protested against the charge can now get their "expenses" refunded. They're up €100 on the deal it appears.

    Bizarre in the extreme.
