Hills in Wexford?!

Lads, I've to do a hill workout tomorrow as part of my training plan, but I'm on my holipops in Rosslare. I need a decent hill of around half a km to run up, preferably with some flat surrounding areas but that part is less important. The only place I can think of is out nearer to enniscorthy.

    Any ideas?

Thanks, and sorry for a whole thread on the subject but I have of course left it til last minute to look this up!

Maybe the hill out of Wexford town, past the racecourse? Not sure if it's steep enough, though! Sorry I can't think of anywhere closer to Rosslare

If you know where or can get to Ballytrent beach it's close to kilrane you can get a decent hill workout there,

Not sure what you mean about the flat spaces?

    Hi,

There is a few hills for you, but they are away from Rosslare.

One is on the Rosslare to Dublin road, its the hill before Whitford Roundabout, its a long drag.

Another is in Drinagh Wexford, going up the route the half marathon goes up.

Summer Hill in Wexford Town is another one

The one at the race course could suit best as could park at the hotel.

Only hill i can think that is close to Rosslare is the one out of the ferry port.

Thanks so much lads, I just drove down to the ferry port to have a look and the gradient looks good but it's only about 100 metres. There's also one up to the golf course in St. Helen's bay but again a bit short. I noticed on my way back along the N25 there's a decent drag before tagoat coming from wexford side. I've run it before but as an LSR. It might work.

I don't mind driving out a bit so I'll have a Google of your suggestions. I was thinking of oulart hill if all else failed but didn't fancy travelling that far for a short workout!

I'm spoilt for hills where I live and I've to run up a bloody big mountain on Saturday. Typical!!

Oulart hill is way out of your way, i will give you the directions for the two that I think will work.

    N25 one:

Get on the n25 towards Dublin, go thru the rosslare roundabout beside you, head straight in till you next the roundabout. Turn left there and drive straight, you will hit the hill quickly after the bend.

    Race course one:
Get on the n25 towards Dublin, go thru the rosslare roundabout beside you, head straight in till you next the roundabout. Turn left there and drive straight thru next roundabout, turn right at the next roundabout and park in the hotel on your right. The hill is in front of you. Also a petrol station at the top of it, if you need a drink.

You also have a 5k parkrun in Johnstown Castle on the Sat morning.

Curracloe beach is an amazing place for a long run, beach, forest and sand dunes!!

Forth Mountain isn't too far and its a good long hill, there's steep sides and less steep sides. Also a good spot for trail running if you're interested in that. Good few horse stables around there.

I'm doing the warriors run in sligo on saturday! >.<

I was Johnstown Castle yesterday, beautiful place for a parkrun, I'll definitely do it next time I'm down, and much closer than I realised so I'll cycle down to it too :)

I might check out Curracloe tomorrow, the mutt might like to join me for that run!
