Have any of you asked the factory to take liver samples from your lambs? What is involved and how do I organise to have samples sent to Lab ?

    Thanks

Looked into this last year and the lab. tech said I would have to ask the vet on the line to remove a sample from the livers and bring it to them myself. Can't remember exactly how much but a miniscule amount I think and the lab supplied the containers.
As to the cost;think about 150 to 200 euro for full results but that could be out by a mile.
They recommended liver samples as the best way to test but others preferred blood samples.Think it depends on what exactly you are looking to test for and what animals you are testing ie with breeding ewes liver samples would be a tad difficult!

Know I was told that liver was the only real way to get accurate results for certain things.
In the end decided to leave it.Maybe this year.

the vets in ICM took samples for us and we collected them and brought them to laboratory in athlone, they only charged €25 for 6 samples tested for copper, cobalt and molybdenum

Here's a list of all the regional labs, there might be one nearer to you
You'll probably have to be referred through a vet
