I found a toad in a feild I was pulling ragwort in this evening. First time I ever came across one. Plenty of frogs but never a toad. Anybody else come across them? Can't imagine they're too common

Dad found one yesterday too when shifting stuff out of a corner in the yard.

AFAIK they are only found on a handful of coastal sites in the SW - natterjack toad scheme in Kerry pays farmers to maintain ponds for them.

I thought Kerry was the only real place to find Natterjack Toads in Ireland. It's a long way from the Royal county!
Don't suppose you've any pics Bogman?

Nope. Took a snapchat but that's gone now. Maybe it was just a really big frog but he was bigger and stockier
