Toughened glass

I am looking to cap a well with glass, put spotlights inside and leave it as a garden feature. The problem is that its in the middle of a gravel yard and cars may drive over it from time to time. I can't have a protective high surround as I need the space to manoeuvre a car.

Can I get glass strong enough to withstand the weight of a car?

It's possible to get glass you can drive on but you can be sure it'll be expensive. I'd be concerned that the gravel might damage it and it'll be badly scratched or chipped in no time.

Not only tough enough to drive over, tough enough to drive over with gravel pinging under the wheels…

Didn't think about the gravel scratches. Any alternative suggestions? If I top the glass with a metal grid, the gravel will just build up in the gaps anyway.
