Broken down taxi-van just after the fork on college green.

Means all traffic having to turn right onto Westmoreland street

Can this not be pushed out of the way?Or do any pushers need to have a safepass and manual handling certification first.

Years ago it'd be turned over onto an auld mattress(or bit of carpet) and fixed on the spot with minimal delays or else turned into the nearest ditch to be collected at a later date:D

So the one heading southbound has been clear.

However there is a breakdown at the turn for westmoreland street now.

There is a breakdown on College St in the city centre partially blocking the right lane towards Westmoreland St. Expect delays. A second breakdown on College St towards College Green has however been cleared.

Zero contingency plans are in place from the NTA/Garda for whenever something forces the close of a section of road. Its beyond ridiculous, would not happen in any other country.

It also underlines the basic sense behind the City Council's plans to include Taxi's in the proposed banned list for the eventual BXD'd City Centre.

Whilst the Taxi Driving fraternity will wax lyrical about their mode being "Public Transport",reality proves otherwise.

Taxi's are Public Service Vehicle's plying for private-hire,and are all too quick to prove this, should your destination not coincide with where your chosen Taxidriver is prepared to go.

Currently, the College Green Bus Gate's greatest source of delay is the numbers of empty Taxi's attempting to squeeze through as they search for the ever elusive rich Yank in Plaid Pants...!

There is nowhere near enough demand for the numbers of Taxi's in the City Centre each day.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.
