High Court Probate

    Hello
I am told all cases to do with probate are heard in the high court.

Can one represent oneself in the high court or do you have to hire a barrister?

What is the average cost of a barrister?

If the case is withdrawn before coming to court are costs still incurred if it's within a certain time limit?

Thanks for any info you might have on the subject..

No, probate litigation may also be in the Circuit Court.

Unless you have detailed knowledge of probate law and procedure, do not do it yourself. Talk to a solicitor who will also deal with your other queries

Thanks. I was just trying to get a general idea of costs. Estimates from solicitors seem to vary wildly. Since the motion has been filed in the high court I was wondering if one can just hire a barrister directly or does one have to go through a solicitor.

You have to go through a solicitor.

A barrister may not be required unless its in the high court.

If you diy it you will run up thousands in excess costs and make a balls of it.

Would you re-plumb and rewire your house and build your own car?

Law is not a hobby. Get a professional
