'Light Up Saturday Nights' with Ray D'Arcy.

More like light up the torches for the 'Bring Back Brendan' angry mob.

And that Nathan Carter documentary looks strangely interesting :o:o:D

Also this season, but not featured in the promo, is Liveline - The TV Show

    Sort of.

I think he's rather overrated myself. It will be interesting to see how his TV chat show goes : he has never really done anything of note on television (and he's leaving it a bit late in the day to become an overnight TV star).

Not even saying it to be nostalgic for the 90s - Blackboard Jungle was a good show and would still be a good vehicle for Ray on TV. I know he's 20 years older, but still. Getting older didn't stop Jeremy Paxman from hosting University Challenge.

No mention of The Hardy Bucks?

Oh right, they've finished up filming a few weeks now so I just presumed they'd be back in the Autumn.

The problem is they're lining him up to be a big star of the TV schedules (booting Brendan O'Connor's show off air to make way for him) and there's talk of him taking over The Late Late Show from Tubridy. I think they've lost the plot myself.....his TV output so far has been average to mediocre at best. Why isn't he already one of the biggest names on TV if he's supposed to be so good? The likes of Gay Byrne, Pat Kenny and Ryan Tubridy were long established on TV before the age of 50, or 40 for that matter. His career sounds far more like the late Gerry Ryan, someone who never really mastered the medium.

New season on RTE.nin my opinion.
Today: With Daithi and Maura seems to working for RTE compared to the afternoon shows of the the 2000's. I think this is because it's only about an hour and ten minutes and it doesn't go in all after noon compared to before. I also think it helps that their is gander balance in the programme.
Ray Darcy wouldn't be my favourite person in the world(I know a lot of people who feel the same) it will be interesting to see how his show goes. I'll give it ago.
RTE investigates series: Sometimes these series can be interesting. Generally makes people aware of what happens behind closed doors.
The Mario Show: I'm always 50/50 on this guy sometimes I enjoy him and others I don't. Wouldn't be worried if I missed the show.
Recruits: Seems like a tamed down version of Bad lads army. Don't think this will be to my taste. Basically people being shouted at, one will occasionally throw a tantrum and have a story about some relative being in the army. It will probably all end up happy.
Ireland's wealth with David McWilliams. I might have a look at this. I'd prefer to see a programme about the pipes children (think that's the name) revisited about where they are now.
W.B Yates. Some people will enjoy this. It would be for me tough.
The Voice of Ireland: One show I'd axe. Have very little time for this. Was very open to it at the start I just think it's awful.
Hidden Impact: I'll probably watch it.
The late late show: I think something needs to be done.(maybe making it a bit shorter) we generally only watch it if there's going to be something interesting on.
Ireland's fittest family: Watched a few episodes of this generally find the families a bit overly annoying competitive.
Nathan Carter: He's meant to be a nice lad and good to his fans. Honestly would wish this guy the the best.
A week to my weeding: Talk about dress, dress nightmare which will be resolved, mother in law kicking up a fuss, man writing a speech, the odd drama and tear. In the end it will all be happy and perfect.
Garda down under: Will have a look at this might be good or rubbish.
    Live line programme: Call Joe.
Operation Transformation: I enjoyed the first few seasons. Think it's needs a revamp. I preferred it when it was only on once a week.
    Clean/Break: looking forward to this.
Rebellion/1916 programmes: There's going to be a lot of them.

The main thing lacking here is Love/Hate. I wonder what will be on instead of it in October/November?

The worst thing on the list of programmes is the dreadful The Voice of Ireland. I agree with the above poster wrt this. All reality TV competitions like this are way past their sell by date and nothing comes of any of the contestants anyway.

There's some new Irish drama based on a tiger kidnapping, I'd say that's going to take the Love/Hate slot.

The Clean/Break one perhaps? That kind of sounds like a Love/Hate influenced show. Hopefully, it will be as good.

Ah come on Ireland is a huge country, there must be some talent out there that as yet (a) hasn't tried The Voice of Ireland already or (b) hasn't decided it's the worse thing they could do as the winners end up in musical no mans land and they would be better off going it alone (c) gone on one of the UK shows

RTE please continue to wring the life out of this show for another season, unfortunately the best we can do is boycott it as the viewing figures they are showing are keeping it in business

There's the full list. A few interesting programmes hidden in there (and a lot of dross). The Shelbourne being recommissioned is very lazy. The first series was no more than an extended advert (except to let you know that the staff have little interest in your stay unless you are famous). Lots of 1916 programming, maybe overkill but I suppose they have to. The Michael Portillo Doc might be interesting, a different perspective on it. That Pat Shortt Music Archive programme looks interesting, even if it is presented by Pat Shortt ...

The Clean Break programme seems to be about a car dealer who gets involved in robbing a bank through a tiger kidnapping. Of course, this was covered in Love/Hate (see season 4 episode 1).

Clean Break will go one of 2 ways: either it will be a worthy successor to Love/Hate or else it will be a very poor exploration of Love/Hate inspired territory. We just have to wait and see ...

I've a feeling clean break will be a story about somebody who basically messes up and his family ends up paying for it. I don't think it's going to be as violent as love/hate.

I am looking forward to this series but can see it go either way. I too do not see it being as violent as or as good as Love/Hate but I hope that it will include a good deal of tension, some violence and some iconic or at least memorable characters.

What I would hope from it is that it builds up tension as it goes along. Admittedly, the first episode or 2 will be slow burning as a lot of background issues are probably needed and hopefully the last 2 episodes will come to life.

The temptation with a lot of dramas is to ride on the back of Love/Hate and end up not being as good. Clean Break may well end up to be a good drama in the vein of Love/Hate or it may be the 2015 version of 2007's Trouble In Paradise or heaven forbid 2004's The Big Bow Wow.
