    Hi,
bought a used car, tax out - so seller said that he can get tax paid in tax office
by simply bringing in the tax book with new details on it
(this hasnt been sent to shannon yet)
is this correct? you can tax a car in the new owners name before change of ownership?
can both be done at the tax office in person?
im confused by this. im guessing seller is wrong.

You probably can in the tax office I don't no but I wouldn't be paying the arrears on it how long is the tax out? If you wait for the log book to come back you only pay from the date you buy it if you go in with his log book you would be paying whatever arrears he has on it as well if they let you do it that is

Just wait for the tax book only takes a week or two
