Looking for a UK/NI Reg car in ROI

OK this might be a bit of an odd question but anyway...

I'm moving back to the UK and I was planning on buying a UK reg in Newry before I go so I can load it up and take it over on the ferry. And then use it when I get over there.

Anyhow, I have no one to take me up to Newry. I could get the train but I wouldn't feel comfortable meeting someone alone with a large amount of cash on me.

Basically my question is are there any dealers in Dublin/Meath/Louth that would deal with UK reg cars? I have no idea why anyone would but maybe you guys know of somewhere that might be able to help me...

    Thanks

Why not buy up in Newry or Belfast from a legit dealer and use the likes of Transfer mate to move the money?

Yeah that's an idea - the only think is I only want to get something cheap and cheerful as it will only be used for 6 months or so.

Do you think it's too risky to buy a car in this price range (will obviously be old) without seeing it first? I was thinking if I get one with a fresh MOT and a recent service I might be OK...

Why carry large amounts of cash anywhere?

Bought a car in Lisburn last year from an independent dealer. Just paid for it (c. 4k) on a Visa Debit card. No problem.

I wouldn't be buying any car without first seeing or driving it. Especially more with a cheap car.

The other option is to view a car down here first and then once happy with it arrange to meet the seller at a bank branch and lodge the money into their account over the counter.

Another thing that spring to mind: Do you have a UK address at the minute you could register it at?

You could buy a car in the south and just bring it with you and re-register it?

Or just buy one in the north and get a cheque or bank draft to pay for it. No cash carrying required.

I've never bought a car on a visa debit, don't know if there is a cash limit.

Search donedeal's motor section and use the search term vrt (as in not paid!)

I do indeed 😊 so I'll have no issue with insurance

Wasn't thinking of insurance, just somewhere for the VRC to be sent to.

Thanks vandriver - I was looking on there already but putting 'UK Reg' or NI Reg' and not much was coming up.

Loads came up when I searched VRT Though! Great tip, thanks very much :)
