Capabilities of Eircom line testing?

IMHO,...Some overly gentle friends of mine are being p11sed  on by Eircom. (2 month old issue, new modem has been issued)

Since June their previously stable Eircom BB connection has been going down for long periods. :o I fitted a corded phone to the line, as a test, and the line is really crackly.
Eircom say the line is fine, checking from their end.

The phone line has 2 visible junctions before getting to the pole head, 20 feet away. The pole head has 3 Eircom boxes, the busiest one, grey plastic a foot long , 8 inches wide 4 inches deep has an ill-fitting cove (visible opening at side join ) with the cover held in place with a few winds of insulating tape. The pole head is a real dog's dinner.

Unfortunately did not have good camera with me otherwise would have picture of pole head.

How can I, or my friends get Eircom to fix.:(

I presume you have tested the line directly to the copper pair where it comes in to the building eliminating all inside equipment with a known working phone. (Working/non noisy handset cord)

Noise is always the hardest fault to fix unless it is an obvious loose connection on the pole

    Hi,
Well I connected simple corded phone (known to be working , with no crackle ) to the phone socket, standard Eircom double socket, with nothing else connected.
As I said, two junctions visible on supply, before masthead, which is a dog's dinner.

I remember years ago we had a problem with Channel 4 on Cablelink with a very poor reception. The test equipment said "all ok" but the TV said "snow snow snow". The guy eventually climbed the ladder and discovered the junction box on the fascia was very badly corroded inside due to water ingress.

Take the cover off the eircom socket and go directly into the test socket inside.
