Why do people do this on myhome and daft?

Is it because they already have a higher offer on the table?

Property values can increase. If you see another building close by looking for a higher price, it's only natural to increase the asking price.

My theory is that in some cases the EA list it low to get interest but the vendor will only accept a higher price. After a few weeks the of nothing near what vendor wants vendor insists the price go up to real asking.
