    And I'm Wile Sound!

Have you ever met a drinker of the Scottish lager of the Gods that wasn't? Everyone should take Tennent's into their hearts, even if I am biased.

    Why don't you drink Tennent's?

You just haven't had the good proper stuff from a clean line in a polished glass.

Even tonight as I was walking home from the pub I took a bit of a head stagger and nearly fell in a shuck. But I pulled myself out of it and thought to myself, that was the Tennent's. Any other beer and I'd be drooked right now

Tennent's is an all encompassing lager, we don't care who you are or what you are or what you drink, as long as you stick your craft beers up your hole!:pac:

Tennents tastes like cat vomit mixed with the piss of an alcoholic, with a hint of blight ridden potatoes, fermented in a bag of sh*te.

Have had a few sessions on it .......... and have had a few breakfasts with Super Tenants (lunatic soup). It helps the hypothalamus function to kickstart.
    As you were sayin'?

    Goodnight! ;)

..let it be the one I love, let me take it in my hand. If there's one great thing that no one can deny.

I've seen too much of what others have done. I've heard too much of the songs they have sung. Their words will fail to sway me from what I know is true.

For when you chase perfection then nothing less will do..

each to his own... I had a few Guinness, now I am having a glass of Australian Shiraz. Tennents is popular here too, and so is Carling all of a sudden, everyone was drinking it at the weekend at the local.

A man went into a bar in glasgow and asked for a larger shandy

The barman replied " sorry we dont do cocktails"

Hate craft beer, just seems overpriced and for hipsters

is anyone old enough to remember the Guinness-and-a-dash-of-blackcurrent craze? the thoughts of it now are giving me the shudders..

You just haven't had a good pint of it from a proper pub. Come with me on the beer next week, I'll show you the error of your ways :)

Jesus Christ folks, I've been singing the old Tennent's commercial here for a half an hour like..

Are you sure you don't? Forgot the upper case letter and apostrophe.

Short term memory loss is one of the symptoms of over-Tennanting.

    Cheers! ;)

I was getting a taste of apples, blackberries and a subtle after taste of cherries -that's me schooled!

With ya 100% about craft beers. I don't drink for the taste I drink to get drunk. As long as it's not Harp Lager it's fine by me.

No Dunnes i think! trying to cut back on spending, trying for a baby soon!

Irish Knights I think it was called, it was OK, I prefer the lidl stuff, has a more authentic Lidl taste. Found this one a bit bitter but for a big bottle at 12 euro you cannot go wrong!

Normal Baileys is OK if drunk it by the half pint :). Zambucca and Baileys was a slammer when I lived in Deutschland. Bottoms up

AFAIK Irish Knights is made with wine ........ not hard spirits. And it tastes just that little bit mild. Must make memo to contact Theresa Heffernan re same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭KungPao

If I'm joking around about cheap bad beer I'll usually mention Harp and Tennent's, but actually I think the newer import Canadian Molson is worse.

    It tastes like nothing.

It's like fizzy water with food colouring.

That said, I buy it sometimes for the low alcohol level (4%) just to keep on the straight and narrow...I'm in the process of cutting way back on the grog. No more 6% German wonders for me :(

Buckfast is grand stuff. Dunno how it still has a reputation as a "scumbag" drink given that it's about seven quid or ten yopes a bottle. Much cheaper wines out there.

Tenents however? No justification. Pure puddle water.

Tennants isn't a bad beer at all, drank it when visiting Scotland and ended up buying cans of it here for a while after words. Another drink like many of the cheaper beers that has a totally incorrect reputation for being awful because it's a bit cheaper.

Bavaria is my main choice of can now but certainly wouldn't be against a few cans of tennants.

That Molson is basically Carling marketed under a different name and packaging imo. It's their brand and brew.

Just a middle of the road mule piss lager.

As a student, 8 cans for a tenner you can't go wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,708 ✭✭✭✭Mr. CooL ICE

When I was a student, I got a slab of Tennents in an off license sale. It was the worst beer I've ever tasted. Took me a month to get through 12 cans. Even then, I gave the rest away.

My dad always has stuff like Tennents and Holsten Pils in their house in the summer for when the friends from England are visiting. Any left over will remain there until Christmas day when there's no other drink left.
Not great stuff at all at all, but will do if stuck.

A euro a can down in OBriens the last while the Tennants Lager is. Can't go wrong really, not the greatest by any means but better than that Canadian, Coors, Budweiser Miller muck that sells for double the cost...

    Nick

I have heard before that it got it's name because the only people to drink it were people living in tenement houses in Glasgow where it was first brewed. Don't know how true that is though.

I find it drinkable but there are nicer cheaper lagers imo.

    Why don't you drink Tennent's?

    I'm not a homeless jakey, that's why.
A man went into a bar in glasgow and asked for a larger shandy

Surprised he didn't get battered for asking for a small shandy in Glesga in the first place, never mind a larger one.

Ole Dandy fell in love with Tennants many moons ago but his local Pub didn't stock it.
Then, on a wonderful June evening in the mid-90s I entered my local watering hole to see a wonderous sight.
A brand, spanking new Tennatts Tap!

My ole face lit up like...like...well, like...I was happy.

'Had it installed by popular demand.' smiled the Barman, an' ole Dandy dove straight in!

On the fourth pint the friendly Barman dropped a clanger.

'You know Dandy, he announced solemnly...I sold just the one pint o' that Tennants since it arrived four weeks ago.'

Later...worst dose o' the galloping trots ole Dandy ever had...and he hasn't touched a drop since.
