    Hi,

I managed to break my back rear light. I have the NCT coming up, just wondering should I replace the entire light unit or glue the plastic outer part. I'm concerned tho the reflector is a bit broken a bit.

Your thoughts would be great, just unsure how to deal with it before the NCT

You need to replace it but if you can't get it done before the NCT then just seal up the cracks and the hole with clear tape to remove sharp edges and prevent water ingress. The reflective mirrors and the red plastic appear intact. Make sure no white light leaks through the red (seal with red tape).

If it fails it's only a visual retest anyway and there's no charge if booked within 21 days and done within 30 days (assuming no other failures require a test lane).

Thanks for that. Roughly how much do you think it would cost to get it fitted? Or would it be a DIY job?

DIY job, pop along to your local dismantler and you will pick up a good one for around €30.

It's a sharp edge, so will fail on that. Best to replace first.
