Do you have a local bike shop, have a chat and see what they have laying around and want to shift end of season ?

€500 should get you onto something that will handle better and be worth upgrading

At that price the whole model year bit is a joke anyway

+1 on this, depending on your budget you might get a really good deal on an end of season model from a LBS
