RTE Lyric FM quality

I get bad quality for RTE Lyric FM on my radio. Living in Dublin I should go for the Three Rock Transmitter on 96.7 but tuning there gives me Lyric FM with bad quality. The other Radio stations are perfect. I can even see the Three Rock Transmitter from my window but the quality is bad for that station.

    Any ideas ?

I've noticed Today FM was poorly also recently. It's like it's over modulating. The signal on 101.6 is at 100% but the quality is awful. If I mannually switch to 105.5 it's a weaker signal but better sound quality.

Makes sense. I wondered why I could physically see the transmitter but still have bad quality. And all other stations are grand. So I'll try around with other frequencies here or switch to listen via the Internet.

    Thanks, appreciate your fast help.

Indeed, I contacted both Today FM & 2RN about the poor sound quality on 100.9 (Kippure) a few weeks back and in fairness it was put right straight away. The op should contact RTE & 2RN about Lyric.

101.8 on Three Rock is broadcast at lower power than Lyric FM (500W vs 10kW) and is no longer managed by 2RN

    Try a different radio?

I have come across some modern radios which unfortunately self-generate interference on specific frequencies...

Recently I came across someone's Pure Sensia (a rugby-ball shaped FM-DAB-internet radio) which had a self-generated interfering 'carrier' on 98.3MHz which completely blanked out reception of a station on 98.3FM (In Cork UCC98.3). Worse still, it also interfered with reception of the station on 98.3 on any radio near it within a couple of metres (regardless what station/mode the offending Pure radio was in) !!!

(I think there is a more recent version of the Pure Sensia. Whether it also causes the above interference problems I do not know?)

Marty is on holiday this week. Lorcan Murray says he will be spinning the discs till Friday. I regard this as a quality issue. Up or down depends on ones opinion of these able gentlemen
