    Hi all,
I need to have data extracted from an external hard drive. Can anyone recommend a reputable company in Castletroy or the city centre?

    Thanks!

I'd probably try giving Action Point a call.

What's wrong with the drive? Is it dead dead or is there some life left in it?

Depends on what you want too, and how important the data is to you. There is specialist companies who operate in clean rooms etc, charging about 1000. Then there is the lad down the road who will just mount it in a drive caddy.

    No life at all.

If there's not life at all it might be just the enclosure that's not working, is there a model number on it and I'll see how easy it would be to dismantle it to get the drive out of it.

You wouldn't be comfortable with freezing it and hitting it a rubber mallet would you?

Liam in Limerick computers near the groody roundabout does it but it is not a cheap procedure and takes quite some time to do...and has to be done as already said In a clean room and with highly specialised equipment

Best of luck hope you get what you need
    Worth asking him at least

Knew it wouldnt be cheap as I said earlier not an easy procedure and equipment required is very very expensive for the recovery..

Just as a final point, before you go ahead with any cheaper options, if the data is important enough that you are considering going for the professional data recovery, don't try to skimp out and see if the cheaper version will fix It first. It's likely to make the data even more difficult to recover, if not impossible ( assuming its not something very easy like the enclosure itself is no long working but the drive is fine).
