They blew us away in the previous fixture, done and dusted after 20 minutes.

Walker is just dumb, you know he's gonna concede silly free kicks. Vertonghen is flat footed, no pace, dives to the ground way too often for my liking.

Is Dier gonna play as DM, surely not? Schneiderlin is massive for Utd and will be for years.

Midfield is where it'll be won. Lamela does nothing, wanders around the pitch like a nomad. Eriksen can be ineffective for large portions, but has a habit of popping up with a goal.

Mason & Bentaleb aren't natural creators. Dembele can slow play down unnecessary after finding himself in good positions.

There's a sever lack of support given to Kane, midfield just don't do enough. He'll be left frustrated shooting from impossible angles otherwise.

I see Rose and Chadli being the only two capable of crossing the ball into the box.

We really some injection of pace. I think it'll be backs to the wall, we'll get over run in midfield and crumble. Lloris will need his A game.

    Take a deep breath man!

Hopefully we will load the midfield (oh no wait we haven't got enough players to do that)

Please God let Trippier and Lloris play and hopefully we can leave OT with a half decent performance

Lloris saved a stinger last night, he'll be fine. Trippier got MOTM, wonder what Walker thought of that?

I don't want to all negative, like you said a decent performance. Takes time to reach your stride, so I'm not expecting miracles.

I'd love if we started Dembele instead of Lamela, I think United bring out the best in him.

It's the right time to play them anyway. They'll improve as the season goes on, and they get used to the changes and new players they've brought in. Hopefully they are still a bit rusty, and don't perform at 100%.

I doubt it though, and United away on the 1st day of the season isn't a good start. I'd say it'll be fairly even overall, with them bossing the midfield and winning 2-1.

I think United away is a good way to start the season. It's a game we expect to lose anyway, so it's far from a disaster if we do lose. Plus a good tough fixture gets the players up to speed straight from the off.

Apparently De Gea won't play tomorrow?

Seems to be the case, no Schweinsteger eithe
Johnstone seems to be the preferred keeper from the United fans, who knows.

We're gonna win 2-1... fook the negativity! COYS!

De Gea not playing is a massive plus for us. Their defense is pretty poor, so i'm changing my outlook to Spurs winning 0-2.

Kane in my Fantasy Football team as well :P

4-3 Spurs :D dembele to boss the game

    Hugo

    Trippier - Toby - Jan - Rose

    Bentaleb - Dier

    Dembele - Eriksen - Chadli

    Kane.

Was not very optimistic after the Madrid game, but was pleasantly surprised for the Milan game. ( Milan were poison though).

But as usual, when the game gets closer i always feel optimistic, so i reckon we will get a draw, wouldnt even rule out a win, but that wont happen.

Think Alli will have to wait for a haome game against weaker opposition to start, though i wouldnt mind him starting tomorrow.

Just think that Dier will sit in from of the back four as a screen.

If we can keep it all square up til the 60 min.......;)

    Rooney 1st goal....Spurs draw 1-1.

    Chadli.

    Jesus Christ I hope not.

Seems to me that Dier as a midfielder is an experiment in its infancy, I'm hoping Poch doesn't throw him in at the deep end at Old Trafford. I'd go with Mason or Dembele beside Bentaleb.

Wouldnt surprise me if they through Alli in tomorrow....

I'd say it'll be the below, with Dembele being the only maybe.

    Lloris
    Trippier - Verts - Alder - Rose
    Dembele - Bentaleb----
    ----Lamella - Eriksen - Chadli
    Kane

This is probably the most likely team I'd say,if we came away with a draw I'd be happy enough.

First time since the game in Sydney (May 30th) meeting up with the Brisbane Spurs supporters.

Should be good craic albeit I think it'll be short lived. Can never be confident against united.

2-0 comfortable win I say. Solid enough in defence but no creativity from the front 6 will be our undoing.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Walker starts, as does Dembele and Dier at CM. Lamella not on either, nor Lloris.
Vorm, Walker, Verts, Alder, Davies, Dier, Bentaleb, Chadli, Eriksen, Dembele and Kane.

Don't agree with some of that tbh...especially Dier in DM. Where's Rose? Utd will probably own the midfield, and just control the game for 90 minutes. Hopefully i'm wrong, but i'm definitely not confident now.

Midfield to be overrun, Walker to make mistake to cost a goal. Rose off to Chelsea and Hugo off to United, that is my reading of that line up :D

    Hope I am wrong.

I can't see that team taking anything from the game today, hope I'm wrong.

    Glad to see Davis starting.

Walker on the other had. Jayzus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Super excited, but I'd expect Carrick, Schneiderlin & Mata to boss things. Depay is a talent, fancy him to score. We'll be feeding off scraps.

I have absolute no faith in Davies, he's too nice for a defender. Walker thinks he can incorporate rugby tackles.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

    Bentaleb you ****ing idiot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Bentaleb still giving away possession in key areas, thought we played really well up till then.

Seriously wish Walker never played for the club again.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I don't blame Walker for that. Unlucky it went in, but he was trying to cover someone else's mistake. 100% Bentalebs fault.

    Utd well on top now.

Not just that. He's being exposed all half.

We're absolute dirt. Looking at 3-0 atleast if it keels going like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Walker has handled Young better than I thought, our midfield it too lightweight. Chasing shadows. Bentaleb is playing like its a friendly against Stevenage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Only one down. Neither keeper has seen any real action. More than capable of equalizing. Stick Alli or Carroll on if it's the same after 10 - 15 minutes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,072 ✭✭✭mass_debater

If we go back to paying the way we did in the first 20 we can Nick something from this game. Should bring on Ali for Bentaleb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Dear god get Bentaleb off, he just let Rooney run there. He's not picking up anyone, just drifting about.

How many balls have we played over the top, has there been a ball crossed in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

All the noise is coming from the Tottenham end, Utd have been brutal this half. 30 minutes to create a chance or two? Vorm has been a spectator thus far.

Chadli, Dembele & Eriksen has done nowt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,814 ✭✭✭golfball37

    Eriksen is criminally overrated

Opening day ring rust as expected. Neither keeper was called upon. One mistake won the game.

Walker controlled Young all game, the blame shouldn't lie on his shoulders. Alderweireld looks a fantastic purchase. Midfield were non existing. Bar that me'h.

Need a signing or two please Mr.Levy. Berahino would inject some much needed pace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,747 ✭✭✭irishmover

Two things to take from this game. We are not good enough as it stands and need at minimum a creative midfielder and a striker.

United at present look average and no hope of winning the league if they continue on that form. The united of old would have hammered that Spurs side.

First game of the season. No one's match fit at this early stage, plus there incorporating new players.

Same **** different season. In a way am sorry to see football back, my weekends will be ruined again now!!

Bentaleb needs a serious reality check, he didn't defend, or create. You can't play a ball blindly and get away with it. I'm not entirely sure of his role as of yet?
