€3k to Invest in Stock

    I'm looking to invest 3k, 1k in three different stocks.

    I want to invest:
    1k in Hibernian REIT
    1k in Smurfit Kappa
    1k in the ISEQ 20

    What are the opinions on Hibernian and SK? P/E for Hibernian is 7.3, seems strangely low.

    What would be the best way to purchase these? As in, which stockbroker, or whether I need to go through one at all? Particularly regarding the ISEQ ETF, whats the best way of going about that?

    I personally use IG index. I opened a live account a few months ago and have bought several equities since. No fee to setup account and transfer money.

    Approx €10 fee to purchase each of your 3 products, with a commission of 0.1% per trade as far as I'm aware.

    Quick, easy, and you call the shots. Don't see why you'd need to touch an actual stockbroker (I gather you meant it in relation to another human being involved in the transactions?), when you seem pretty clear on what you want.

    Avoid REITs, they have no real long term strategies. I think Green REIT may have half decent future, but Hibernian doesnt appear to have the brightest future. When all of the NAMA properties are gone. Where are REITs going to buy more properties? There is no major developments happening in the city, that have the potential to be sold to REITs. Kennedy Wilson is no longer buying property in Ireland due to lack of value

    Rules were changed after the crash to allow REITs so as to try to allow the average punter access property in a regulated way (ie stop everybody buying a property to have exposure to it)...and most crucially with professionals running the show.

    The only problem is that the average punter doesnt understand the stock market so wont buy shares. So my forecast is that we'll continue to have boom bust cycles in property which will allow these companies to buy property in dips and sell in booms.

    I RES REIT is also building its own properties as a cheaper way than buying direct from the market.

    Nama isnt necessary for them to have a viable business model.
