Hiya. So, I signed on for casual jobseekers benefit on 22/7.

I was approved and got a letter saying I was approved at a weekly rate of 147 euro. First cheque sent out 31/7. Arrears would come later (if any).

The letter said to deduct 1/5 of the 147 for each day I work. I worked two days. That left 88 euro out of the 147.

I got my cheque today, but for 58?

Can someone explain is that right? If I'm paid for three days, I should get 3/5 of the 147, right? So 88 euro?

Panicking now because combined with my wages for the two days, I've a grand total of 156 euro to survive on :(

Maybe you only got two days out of the first week?

Was it 58.8 you got? That would only be two days JSA

    What period was it for?

I don't understand why I'd only get two though (the rate I got is for two), because I only worked two days, not three.

Yeah, 58.80. Week from Wednesday 22nd to Tuesday 28th iirc

That's definitely two days payment then.
What were the two days you worked? Do the DSP not operate on a Sunday to Saturday type arrangement? I.e. if you worked Wed/Thurs, and not Fri/Sat that is all they are counting?

If you call into them, they can probably clear it up.

Apparently it's pointless trying to call them as they never answer the phones :)

The forms they gave me run on a Wednesday to Tuesday basis.

I worked Wednesday 22nd and Sunday 26th, off every other day.

Just be careful in working as they only allow you work 3 days max to qualify for the other 2 social welfare.
Work 4 days and you get nothing.
As was said, it may just have been how the week fell.

I know, I was cut from 5 days to two, which is why I applied, as it's a permanent cut.

Week seems to have fallen correctly, from what I can see the payment just doesn't reflect it.

I tried calling them (I'm in work at the moment), no answer of course. I'll drop in tomorrow and panic til then!

Just rang the mother there and got her to re-read my letters/cheque for me (I'm at work, so relying on her to tell me what's what!).

I'm actually being paid from Friday 24th-Tuesday 28th. So since I worked Sunday, and they run on a 6 day week, AND they're not paying for the Wednesday and Thursday, that makes perfect sense, right? So presumably three days payment from next week on?

    Hope that makes sense!

Would the other days be waiting days? You usually don't get paid for the first 3 days of any claim. They also run a 5 day week now not 6

Haven't a clue! As you can probably tell, I'm new to this :o
