Hi will any insurance companies refuse to insure a 99 or 00 car?
which are the best companies for this?
need a quick and cheap a-b car for the missus....can these old cars be easily insured?

There's only 2 companies refusing to insure them for new customers, the rest are still insuring them ;)

Aviva and Allianz and that's for new policies, if you have a existing policy with them already with them they will continue to provide cover.

FBD won't offer you fully comp on anything over 15 years, that includes existing policies. Been that way since at least the start of this year.

First Ireland were the cheapest by a large amount when I insured my 00 Corolla at the start of the Summer.

FBD would not offer me any kind of cover on a 16 year old car yesterday and I got quotes ranging from 915 to 575 from all the other firms I rang .
I had no choice but take the premium offered by my current insurer of 375. (well I did manage to knock 20 off on the phone)

As the other larger thread indicates, this is not the case. A good few other insurers have followed suit, with some others jacking up premiums.

As normal you will need to do the ring about OP. I just did it there two weeks ago posing as a new customer to see what the story was, and many wouldn't insure me on my 00 Astra sighting its 15 years old, while others had very inflated premiums.

My current policy is with Allianz, dreading to see the renewal in the door in December.
