Laptop battery and charger replacement

I've had my Fujitsu laptop over 3 years. A few months back the battery, which had over time become terrible, wouldn't work without the charger constantly plugged in.

Now the charger has stopped working.

Would people recommend just getting a new charger and battery (eBay seem to have cheap ones duno how reliable though?) or is 3 years enough for a laptop and I'd be as well getting a new 1?

does your laptop still suit your needs and would you see yourself using it again for at least a year?

Connecting the laptop to a constant power source destroys the batteries life. Are you sure the charger has failed and that the battery is not now completely shot.

^^ debatable. Most decent laptops know when the batt is charged and won't overcharge.

But it would be a good idea to try the PSU with the batt removed before declaring it broken. Also check cord and fuse!

    Cheers lads.

Yeah I tried it without battery and it worked, hooray!

Now for getting a new battery- are the cheap ones on eBay reliable? Or should i stick with laptopbstteries.ie or syncron.ie ?

Not sure about this. I bought one online for my Toshiba and it doesnt recognise it. It appears some batteries have a chip in that stops using generics.

    Just something to think about.

    Nope - its fact.

Its also the heat from the laptop reduces the batteries lifespan.

    From Dell website (link):
Leaving your laptop plugged in all the time (or...) can actually reduce your battery’s charge capacity and shorten its lifecycle.

    “Roll it back”
