What to do with pound (sterling) coins?

    Hi folks,

I have amassed circa £40 pounds in single one pound coins over the years.

My local credit union will not take them as they only take sterling notes.

I now use my Visa card any time I travel to Northern Ireland, I was thinking of traveling to the north to fill my car with petrol but living 35 miles from the border I will waste a lot of the money just travelling there and back.

Any other ideas what I can do with all these coins?

Perhaps put them on Donedeal or Adverts at a favourable exchange rate of €50.

Thanks AD, think I'll stick them up on donedeal.

If I got a €50 note for them I'd be chuffed.

I live in donegal and most shops take sterling! They just give you a £1=€1 rate. Is there anywhere closer to the border that you might be where you could get them changed/do a deal with a shop owner?
