Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Absolutely.

If we ever tie the knot, it's gonna be tough, tough few weeks of planning out the day to ensure it doesn't clash with anything.

It's gonna be a tough day when one of yer mates reads that post out at the wedding!

The reason its going to be tough is because I'm gonna tell her it can't clash with anything and it'll be a few weeks of me saying 'No, not that day' over and over....

It's much easier just marrying a woman that's into the rugby as well. She already knows not to even suggest any date from September to May, and that June and July are somewhat out of the question as well as the end of August being a no-go. Other than that though....

Yeah luckily she's into rugby.... Probably not quite as much as your missus though molloy... I mean, like, she might try to plan it for Leinster v Moseley or something. The horror!

Nah, Molloy will be having a holistic Unitarian full moon attachment ceremony which are generally held at mid night so unless it's a southern hemisphere morning fixture should be grand.

Be careful there , a US golfer recently had an issue when his wife was asked to be maid of honour at her sisters wedding..

She looked at his calendar and saw a week in July marked "OPEN" so she thought "Great, that's free- Let's go for it"...

Trouble was - OPEN meant "The British OPEN".....

    See here

Moral of the story - Make sure the calendar is VERY explicit in what days are free or not....

I thought I had it timed perfectly when my son was born on August 8th. Says I to myself, it will be in the off season, i'll never have a clash with a match.

Moore still out, experimental team, so I guess Ross won't be on the field. Nathan White has a good chance to get his 1st cap at least on the bench.

Why would they experiment with players who will definitely not be in the World Cup squad? They may pick players on the periphery of the traveling squad but they won't be just handing out caps for fun!

Still have to put players out. If Moore is unavailable at the moment, Ross and Furlong won't be in every squad. Besides its not beyond the bounds of possibility white could see himself there as unlikely as it is. With 4 games to played I would be almost sure several players with no significant chance of traveling may play just to shore up numbers in some squads.

Could Bent not start at TH?

Yeah. Probably more likely if he is being looked at as a 5th prop.

Nonetheless players with niggles etc won't be risked in these games and a squad still needs to be put out.

We won't go anything like as "experimental" as Wales...Think we have more depth than they do broadly speaking..

It'll be 9 or 10 of what we'd consider our best 23 (with most coming from the 16-23 group) and then the guys that have aspirations to be in the 24-31 group for the squad..

I'd expect to see the likes of Trimble and Henry get a run out. Players who missed the 6 Nations and need a bit of game time.

I'd fully expect Moore to play some part in the warm up games, so it's quite realistic to expect Ross/Furlong/Bent will cover the first 2 games. Moore and Healy will both have to play some part in these games if they are to make to squad.

Experimental may see Henderson start at 6 or Zebo at full back, players who are already part of the 23 (most likely), not players who are unlikely to travel, I'd imagine.

White is closer to the 31 men squad then Furlong. No reason he doesn't get the nod against Bent and Furlong, Leinster's 1st choices are Ross and Moore, it's enough, I'm not favourable at all for calling provincial subsitutes in the national team, rather than experienced starters

Well as long as Jackson gets a run out I'm not overly bothered. That guy needs to get game time ahead of the RWC. We'll probably see something like:

    McGrath Strauss Bent
    Ryan Henderson
    Murphy Heaslip Henry

    Reddan Jackson
    Henshaw Payne
    Earls Zebo Trimble

Best, Kilcoyne, Furlong, Tuohy, Conan, Boss, Madigan, Jones

I know that's very experimental at first glance, but we'll need a second string side for the Canada and Namibia games that need time together. I reckon we'll see something like this for both this game and the Scotland game. The other two will be more full strength sides.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

    Unlikely, but I'd like

    Buckley Strauss White
    Ryan Handerson
    Murphy Conan Henry
    Marmion Jackson Madigan Henshaw
    Bowe Gilroy Earls

I'd expect something similar with the possible exception of Conan who may not feature at any stage, TOD will be ahead of him. All that starting XV are in with a shout of the RWC squad and Joe won't be wasting jerseys.

Not sure if we'll see the first choice centre pairing though (but we should).

Yeah I put Conan in there because I think Heaslip will come off ahead of Henry and so there'd be no need for 2 7s in the squad. I'm sure there'll be some changes to that for the Scotland game so TOD may well get a look in there.

I went with the first choice centres because they need time. We could see Jones come in at 15 and Madigan come in at 12 in the second half with Henshaw and Payne coming off, Earls going to 13 and Zebo to 11.

I don't think Conan is in contention really, would be surprised to see him involved. Moreso than the likes of White or Buckley even. There's a fairly big group of players ahead of Conan- POM, SOB, Heaslip, Henderson, Murphy, Henry, TOD, someone remind me what the story with Ruddock is.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,784 ✭✭✭total former

Ruddock is not being considered due to persistent injury.

Is Trimble fully fit now? I'd love to see hi get a run.
