Can anyone suggest the best streaming box available in Ireland? From what Ive gathered so far amazon fire TV is the best but doesn't work well in Ireland. I have an ordinary TV (not smart), with HDMI connections. I don't mind subscribing to a service or moderate initial hardware cost.

if you have a mobile phone, chromecast will work well. otherwise you're looking at apple tv or roku box.

Chromecast connected to your TV HDMI....makes it Smart!!

Amazon price, free delivery to Ireland...around €42'ish

Others... price varies...

so much available, in conjunction with an Android device....

directly supported from Netflix, Google Music, Plex, etc. etc

Check here for official Google Apps listing.

an App like LocalCast or AllCast.....for casting to your Telly with Chromecast connected to HDMI.

and probably a Smart DNS service [€16.59 p/a] for stuff not necessarily in Ireland.....

This Cast Store App will list and advise what is available.

A good option all right..

you could also use a chromecast to stream kodi/xbmc to your TV from an Android.

https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/stream-video-from-kodi-xbmc-to-chromecast.263685/

But the M8 has an Ethernet port, so you could connect wired to your Broadband Router, via HomePlug, for better streaming.

I have an older Android TV Box, and it does fly.

This kinda one, before the M8's came along....

Plenty of choice so!!

Can somebody please recommend the best streaming box to use, I've looked at this one as recommended already by somebody on this forum http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00X3TA5KU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00, and I found an Irish seller who is selling a so called magic box http://www.themagictvbox.ie/about_the_box/
Is there any major difference between these boxes, or is it just a case of good old rip off Ireland yet again as the Magic Box is retailing at €150

The "Magic Box" is basically an M8 (or similar) pre loaded with Kodi and add ons. This is stuff you can load yourself and there is plenty of information out there about doing it yourself.

Just had a read of the Magic Box page, quote:

"The fact that the content is being streamed and not being downloaded means that there are no legal issues arising."

surely that's not the case!

There is nothing different to the jbonest box from amazon that isnt on the magic box, or at least cant be put on. Wired, and sitting here watching it since I got mine, it is amazing. Its probably someone going to time and effort and if thats the case I should be making a lot, but I have emailed several people with tips and hints on getting the best out of this system.

Lads I never actually got around to purchasing this box for one reason or another, so I revisited this again tonight. Anyway it would appear the the M8s is the best streaming box out there, so would you recommend that I just go with this one (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/M8S-Quad-Core-Latest-HD-FULLY-LOADED-Android-TV-Box-WiFi-KODI-Keyboard-AH031-/141799752547?hash=item2103ec8363:g:8PcAAOSw9mFWG9vu) or are the cheaper versions of the M8 as good?

Had a laugh at the site http://www.themagictvbox.ie/irish_supplier/
Please beware as almost all of these products are older and generally obsolete versions of the Android TV Box and, being end of line production units they are being offered for sale at relatively low prices. As most of these boxes come in from China please watch out for replica units.
They're all from China. The one you linked to (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00X3TA5KU) is maybe a slightly older version thatn the magictvbox, but the latter is more expensive to pay for their office. The "free tech support" that they offer has been already added onto the price tag. People will buy it purely as it's from a shop, and will catch the non-tech savvy people who don't know how to use Amazon, or like to "shop local" (ie; buy foreign goods at 200-300% of the price from someone who'll take your money and buy stuff abroad).
