Hi guys, if anyone could help with some info I'd really appreciate it. This grant stuff is head-spinning. Here's the scenario: 25 yr old guy with a level 9 in planning, out of college 4 yrs, unemployed, lives with girlfriend in rented apt. She is just starting a job, won't be brilliantly paid, not sure how much.
He wants to study auctioneering part-time in IT Tallaght. He says he is not eligible for a grant as he has a level 9? He's down to 40 euro a week on the dole now that GF is working. Is he correct that he is entitled to zero financial assistance as he has a level 9? Is there anywhere he could apply for some funds? Many thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

He is entitled to Zero funds on two grounds.
Having already holding a NFQ Level 9 (if a Major Award) and the course he wants to pursue is not eligible for grant funding as it is part-time.
Maybe he should see if there is a springboard course that might suit. These are free if you meet the qualifying criteria irrespective of qualifications already attained.
