Best gaming podcasts?

I'm getting into podcasts - This American Life, WTF with Marc Maron - and wouldn't mind adding a good, weekly gaming-focused podcast to my list. Could someone recommend some good ones?

Only really interested in PC or WiiU gaming, but happy to consider an entire-industry one if it is a good one. I'd consider myself a 'mature' gamer, as I've been gaming since the late '80s on my Commodore 64 onwards. So wouldn't like shouty or OTT shows!

    Any recommendations gratefully accepted :)

I listen to RFN every week http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/podcast

There's only really 2 I listen to, retronauts which is far and away the best gaming podcast out there but it's only about old games (but still so good). The other would be Warning a Huge Podcast. It's pretty comprehensive about japanese videogames but it's not for everyone, tends to ramble and go on for a long time and really is just focused on gaming in japan. It's also not very regular, there could be weeks, or months between shows.

The Giant Bombcast and Beastcast are my two favourites. Really enjoying the Beastcast of late, which gives some more analytical and thorough discussion on gaming and the nature of games.

I tried the bombcast before and it's just lots of mainstream stuff that you already know and opinions from guys that you'd use the word journalist loosely on.

The Bombcast is more of a personality driven humour podcast that's loosely based around games. The Giant Beastcast, is a newer show from their New York office and is far more in depth and focuses much deeper on the industry.

The two I probably enjoy most are Videogamer podcast and GT Time.

I just generally find them pretty funny and like what they say. Wouldn't say it's anything comprehensive.

Other ones I'm subscribed to but don't always listen to are (in order):

    DLC
    KindaFunnyGames
    Podcast Beyond
    WIRED's Game Life Podcast
    The Game Informer Show

DLC has a tabletop section at the end if you're interested in that kind of thing.

KindaFunny just for Colin really and the rest are a bit meh really.

The Super Best Friendcast is a great laugh every week and they cover a wide variety of topics, in and out of the games industry. They'll often cover news on old cancelled games too as a nice bonus.

I like Midnight Resistance. More fan-oriented than journalists, although the guys do get review copies of games. Comes out about once a month, and the format is pretty simple: 'whatcha been playing?'.

I like the fan-thing though. The guys are passionate about games, and talk intelligently about them.

The one I listen to most regularly would be Rebel FM.

Haven't listened in a while but the Playstation Nation Podcast isn't too bad. Can be long sometimes but for pure PS4/Vita conversation it was pretty good.

Podcast Beyond used to be good but I think the new hosts are still finding their feet and there seems to be a lot of in jokes since they took over from Colin and Greg which I find a bit grating.

I only listen to IGN Game Scoop. Weekly podcast (45mins - 1hr) about up and coming games and discussion about elements of games.

Keeps me up to date anyway.

Ign Game Scoop is the best general games news podcast around, an hour of news and sensible discussion with no major messing it's usually of a high standard.

Ign's Nintendo Voice Chat is also good for Nintendo related topics. The members are excellent and Peer Schnider in particular has forgotten more about games than most games journalists will ever know.

I find podcasts like rebel FM and Giant Bombcast far too self indulgent, two or even three hours discussing TV refresh rates or the finer details of obscure MOBA characters may be considered informative by some but it's mind numbing for most of us.

I'm not going to declare it rubbish or anything because it's a matter of opinion but I've pretty much got sick of the Podquisition. They spent too much time talking absolute nonsense imo.

I enjoy the Bombcast and Beastcast, Cane & Rinse is an interesting one too in that they take an already released game (may or may not be recent) and they do a 2 hour long deep dive into it. Beyond is another one specifically for PlayStation.

Joypod was great. I always prefer podcasts which don't take things or themselves too seriously and Joypod owned that format! Really gutted when it ended. Midnight Resistance is just a little dry.

Yeah, most other games podcasts are so up their own asses... To be a truthful Pumpkin, No.9 is not all that much into gaming... she first heard Joypod on Play Radio UK and just thought they were hilarious... They did get No.9 into Mass Effect too... No.9 did try other games podcast, but found them so dull...

Now a Pumpkin mostly only hears the sound of her own internal monologues... and the piano works of Isaac Albeniz...

Completely agree with you regarding Podquisition, Jim doesn't seem to enjoy himself and I hear a lot of fake, put-on laughs out of him. If you haven't, go listen to the old podtoid, or the dismal jesters podcast, that was a way more enjoyable version of Jim. The difference between podtoid Jim, and podquisition jim is nuts. I also cant stand Laura and the way she rudely interrupts and interjects every 5 seconds. She also seems to think eating some whacky food is a lot funnier than it actually is, it usually just consists of her coughing and laughing after taking a bite. Bit of a rant, but if people enjoy the podcast than more power to 'em.

Podquisition can be a little too silly at times, no doubt, but overall I find it an enjoyable hour of listening.

Plus I think they're the only podcast that I listen to that don't bang on about Loot Crate/Square Space/Nature Box every 20 minutes.

The Indoor Kids is fun and funny and they often get great guests.
