    hi,

my tax expired at the end of june however I am out of the country until september i usually would tax it the following month so end of july for 3 more months.

can i still tax it online once iv been paid again in august? and just back date it? I dont want to try to get a free month or anything like that just that it would be handy financially to wait a fortnight and car isnt being used on irish road I just dont want the hassle of it being a problem to do online if i wait till august

    thanks

If you tax in August, you'll automatically get it till the end of october and the arrears for July. (4 months)

If you tax it on say the 31st of July, you'll get it till the end of September (3 months)

If you wait till august, then you will have to pay 1 month arrears for July + minimum 3 months (August, September, October) in tax.
If you pay now (before end of July) then you only pay for 3 months (July, August, September).

Both can be done online without any hassle.

BTW if you are not using your car in Ireland and it's not parked here in public place, then you should have declared it off the road before end of June when tax was expiring.
