    Hi Guys

We are heading to Hong Kong for 3 nights and then on to Bali (Seminyak) for 10 nights for our honeymoon.

Im just wondering if anyone has any advice in regards what currency to bring etc for each place.
At the moment I'm thinking of getting a few hundredd US dollars and then just using my AIB ATM card and Credit Card when I am there.
I know that AIB will charge me a small fee everytime i use my cards but Im assuming that it is worth it, if it means avoiding bring a large sum of money with me.

Is this a smart way to go? or can anyone suggest alternatives or better ideas.

    thanks

Bear in mind that AIB have a daily limit of around €150 in some parts of Asia, I would call them first to confirm what they limit is.

Hi just bring euro with you it'll be excepted in both places, you'll lose money changing from € to $ to hk$ and rupiah, when we have been to Bali we always changed our money at the money changer across from the bintang supermarket in seminyak, stand outside the supermarket door facing the road and its the one on the right they have security guard at the door. There's 100's of money changers around but be very careful they'll offer great rates but you'll be swindled out of money and you won't even notice it their so good.
Hope ya have a great honeymoon Try stay out of kuta it's a right sihthole.

Go to a Jewelers, they'll give you a much better rate than the money changers.

Grand, Ill bring a couple of hundred euro cash, and my debit/credit cards then.
Ill make sure she brings her cards too, just in case.

If anyone has any suggestions for restaurants/things to do see in either Hong Kong/ Seminyak then feel free to post them in here. We have spent so much time planning the wedding that I'm only getting around to thinking about the honeymoon now.

I heard Kuta is a right dump, someone referred to it as the Magaluf of Australia.

If I was you I'd only spend a few nights on seminyak head to ubud for 2 days and the gili Islands for another few days, gili trawangan is the main island plenty of restaurants and bars it even has a tiny Irish bar.
You can get all your toiletries etc in carrefour shopping centre so no need to load up the bags.

even has a tiny Irish bar
There is also a small Irish bar in Jimbaran owned by a Boardsie :)

Bali has a lot to offer, but it all depends on what you want to do, the beaches are great, Kuta gives you the Magaluf atmosphere if you want it for a night or two, Ubud will give peace and tranquility and there are plenty of sights to visit.

But please don't ride motorbikes and drink, taxis are cheap enough :)

BTW, not sure if you are used to Asian food, but try eating half a raw onion with each meal to avoid stomach problems, also stay away from cheap booze as its source can be quite dangerous.
