Sending packages you sell on ebay and the likes

What is the best way, and most cost efficient way to send packages to the UK, and USA ect. Would you be better off sending using an post, or a courier like UPS ? The packages i'm talking about are normal size boxes, like a box a hover comes in.

Don't send anything quite that large myself but it would be between An Post and a 'budget' courier service like Fastway.

An Post should be cheaper. Fastway would be quicker.
